To some the title might ring the 1993 song "Rape Me" by Nirvana, which is indeed the source of inspiration for this article. The whole world is concerned with the concept of rape but I am here to take a different perspective on it. Defining rape or rather redefining rape is where I would like to begin.
The word rape carries other meanings besides-"To force sexual intercourse or other sexual activity upon someone without their consent." Rape also means to plunder, destroy and to haste or hurry. The world has evolved into such a beautiful place that some even define rape as, "any course of action offensive to a woman committed by a man." Let's keep the prejudices aside.
The meaning-haste or hurry, caught my attention and hence this article happened. The million dollar question is."Aren't we raping ourselves?" Maybe you are giving this article a quick glance and raping yourself, you maybe hurrying off to work and have been working like a dog and rapping yourself, or maybe you are spending time with your friends and family but is still worried about your job, finances, mortgages, and loans and raping yourself. This is exactly when the chorus of the song "Rape Me" rings for me-"I'm not the only one." Maybe we all are satisfied with the fact that you are not the only rat but the sad truth is at the end of the rat race, you still remain a rat. We all are busy making a living, no sorry, we all are raping a living!
People often ask me why do you do things slow, and my reply is, "The average life expectancy of a man seems to have become 70 years, and all the rat race he did was for securing and preparing another generation of rats and his year 70. But I on the other hand read somewhere a normal man has a life expectancy of 120 years and which is a pretty long time and I am in no hurry, sorry I mean I have no intentions of raping me and dying at 70." Life doesn't seem easy today and I do accept we all are going through different situations and what I am trying to tell my readers is to relax, take a breath and go with the flow. Worrying about something doesn't make any difference to your present situation and keeping yourself busy all round the clock is only going to make you weary. Your life and health is more important than anything in this world, so keeping a clear mind and a positive attitude is very important. So I pray all the readers stop raping yourself and start living and sing "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana.
